About Me ... I play both double bass and electric bass guitar and have an equal love of the four genres of music that I work in which are Classical & Orchestral, Jazz, Swing & Big Band, Musical Theatre and Pop & Rock. I also enjoy my Sound Recording Work, Bass Teaching and writing as a freelance contributor for the 'Bass Guitar Magazine' and a 'European String Teachers Association' publication.

Jazz, Swing & Big Band Gigs
I'm very proud to be playing professional double bass and bass guitar gigs, concerts and shows for lots of bands including The Greg Francis Orchestra ... The Kings Of Swing ... Beats & Pieces Big Band ... The New Squadronaires Orchestra ... Stephen Triffitt's Sinatra Live At The Sands ... Andy Prior ... Day & Night Jazz Quartet  etc. I'm also honoured to play in some fantastic youth jazz ensembles alongside some of the UK's leading young jazz players in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (aka NYJO) ... The Conservatoires UK Big Band ... RNCM Big Band & Jazz Collective ... Halle Youth Big Band .

Classical & Orchestral Work
I do lots of freelance classical and orchestral double bass work for concerts, recordings and broadcasts throughout the North of England (and beyond). In the past, I've been booked to do work for the likes of The BBC ... Northern Sinfonia ... Westmorland Orchestra ... Wigan Choral Society ... Manchester Strings ... Blackpool Symphony and lots of Gilbert & Sullivan Societies (etc). I also play in several Royal Northern College of Music Ensembles and was honoured to be principal double bass of the Halle Youth Orchestra for several years.

Pop & Rock Gigs
I'm delighted to be playing bass for the Music Producer Neil Claxton (who's had lots of hits, including a #1 as Mint Royale) and Singer Songwriter Fran Barker's new band Seerauber Jenny. I've played in the band since the very first live gig in October 2009 and the band's now done loads of great gigs, Released a Debut Single, been Record of the Day, was nominated and won Best Of Myspace and was chosen to play the BBC Introducing and 6 Music night at the 2010 In The City event ... our Seerauber Jenny adventure continues :)
Musical Theatre Work
Over the past few years, I've had lots of experience on double bass and electric bass playing many a happy week in North West theatres (Manchester, Lancaster, Blackpool, Liverpool, Oldham etc) for musicals and panto. The shows I've played professionally for include: Guys & Dolls ... My Fair Lady ... The Producers ... South Pacific ... The Full Monty ... Carousel ... Funny Girl.... The King and I ... Oliver... Big ... Beauty & The Beast ... The Railway Children ... 42nd Street ... etc.

I'm Based In The Northwest Of England ... Although I now live in Manchester, my family home is in Lancaster where I was born in 1991 into a very Musical Family with both parents in the music industry. Since the age of nine, they gave me the opportunity to have private lessons with some Really Great Teachers who I can't thank enough for all their hard work and the encouragement over the years.

The Wonderful RNCM ... In January 2009, I was very proud to be awarded a Scholarship to study at the RNCM, one of the World's leading music conservatoires. I'm now in my second year and so proud to be here, it's great! My life at RNCM goes back to 2006 when I won a place to study at Junior RNCM (the RNCM's junior deaprtment) which is run by the awesome Karen Humphreys. Whist there, I was incredibly honoured to be the recipient of the Junior RNCM's most highly prestigious award, 'The Director's Prize' in 2009 and to be awarded 'The Yorke Trust Prize For Double Bass' in both 2007 and 2009 ... Sound Recording Work
As well as my love of the bass, I also love the recording work I do. I have a full eight core 'Mac Pro' professional mobile recording system running 'Pro Tools' and 'Logic' software with sixteen channels of high quality focusrite pre-amps and a whole range of top quality mics (Soundfield, Neumann U87's, AKG 414 etc) that I take out on location (or in to the studio) to record ensembles, choirs, bands and soloists (etc) in the classical, jazz and acoustic generes.
